Vitlycke’s location is quite ideal, being almost right in the middle between Oslo and Gothenburg, in the countryside, just beside the Vitlycke Museum, in a UNESCO protected area, visited for its famous Bronze Age stone carvings.
Vitlycke is a place for investigation and creation, for research, training and education. A place for professional and not-yet professional practitioners in the field of performing arts, visual art, literature, music, new media and cultural production.
Initiated and ran by artist Francesco Scavetta, Vitlycke is a user-created, informal institution. A platform where artists can meet, work and discuss and where national and international companies can concentrate on their creations, in a calm environment in the middle of nature, detached from the rhythm of the city. Hosting residencies, often in collaboration with other nationalInstitutions - as Kultur i Väst, Göteborg Dance and Theatre Festival- is an integral part of what we do. The residencies usually end with informal presentations, that are the occasion to share the process blending together artists and professional, with the local community.
Vitlycke has two studios, two kitchens, with lounge/common spaces, sleeping rooms and a lot of nature in the surroundings. The main studio is ca. 225 m2 and can be transformed it into a black box with light & sound equipment and tribune for the audience (ca. 100 seats).
